FC 27 Player Career: Rivalries, Growth Profiles and Positions
Rivalries, Growth Profiles, seven positions and the new CPU sliders in FC 27 Player Career.
Updated — from EA's FC 27 Career Mode deep dive
Player Career in EA SPORTS FC 27 adds Rivalries: fans pit you against an AI player in a similar role, with goals to beat them to. Around it, Career Mode as a whole gets Growth Profiles, up to seven positions per player, Dynamic OVR, and CPU sliders split into teammates and opponents, which matters most when you control one player. All from EA's FC 27 Career Mode deep dive.
Rivalries
Your rival is picked from your behaviour on the pitch and what you have achieved in your league. It is a player in the same or a similar role, and it is not always a fair fight: sometimes the rival is better than you, sometimes you are the target of someone trying to step up.
There are two kinds of rivalry goal:
- Outperform them over the next few matches, for example whoever gets more assists in the next five.
- Get there first, for example whoever scores a hat-trick first.
Winning, or a tie, earns Personality Points, shared equally across the personality types; an inconclusive rivalry pays half. The rivalry also plays out on social media, with fans taking sides.
Growth Profiles
Six Growth Profiles decide how a player develops, peaks and declines: some break through early, some keep improving into their late twenties, some stay elite for years, some peak briefly. Each profile shapes how different groups of attributes grow over time. They apply to players across Career Mode.
Seven positions and Dynamic OVR
A player can now have up to seven positions, and their base rating is worked out for the position they play. In any of their six secondary positions they are not penalised. Ratings also move during the season with Form, Morale and Match Fitness. Dynamic OVR in FC 27 explains all three.
Sliders for Player Career
Authentic gameplay adds 25 gameplay sliders and 10 CPU sliders, and the CPU sliders are now split into CPU Opponent and CPU Teammate. EA names Player Career as the mode this helps most: you can tune your AI teammates and the opposition separately.
